About the Alliance

The Nursing Organizations Alliance (NOA) is the premier collaborative community convening leaders of professional nursing organizations to address common interests and advance shared goals.

Our Purpose

Connecting Nursing Leaders to Inspire Action.

NOA exists to connect elected and staff leaders of professional nursing organizations to inspire, collaborate, and provide a forum for information exchange and the sharing of resources and best practices.

Established November 17, 2001
A Historic Union of Nursing Coalitions.

The Nursing Organizations Alliance (NOA) was formed when two long‑standing coalitions united to create an enduring collaborative for the community of nursing.

At a special meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaders voted to merge the National Federation for Specialty Nursing Organizations (NFSNO) and the Nursing Organizations Liaison Forum (NOLF), creating a single, stronger voice for national nursing organizations.

Today, NOA continues that legacy by serving as a neutral, trusted space where nursing organizations align around governance, workforce, and professional practice priorities.

  • Bringing together presidents, presidents‑elect, and staff executives.
  • Supporting collaboration instead of competition among organizations.
  • Creating a forum to anticipate and respond to emerging issues in nursing.

Membership

Membership is open to any nursing organization focused on addressing current healthcare issues, including structural nursing components of multi‑disciplinary organizations.
