Target Audience
  • Newly elected volunteer leaders
  • Emerging volunteer leaders

The target audience has limited knowledge of volunteer board leadership roles and responsibilities and governance and organizational strategies for success.

NALA is a great resource for small organizations for orientation/board leadership development.  

Overall Objective
The overall objective of the program is to provide consistent, effective volunteer governance leadership education for individuals within nursing organizations. Content and learning experiences will assist volunteer leaders on their journey of development and refinement of the knowledge and skills necessary to govern and lead their organizations effectively. Opportunities to build strong networking relationships among leaders of national and international nursing organizations will also be provided.

Louisville Information

Louisville, located on the banks of the Ohio River, is the 16th largest city in the United States and the largest city in Kentucky. Home to the Kentucky Derby, the "most exciting two minutes in sports", there is plenty to keep you busy during your stay in Louisville. 4th Street Live is Louisville’s open air retail and entertainment district and is a a great attraction that includes live music and many restaurant options.Louisville is also home to the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Louisville Science Center, and the Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson. The closest airport is the Louisville International Airport (SDF). A one-way taxi/Uber/Lyft ride to the hotel is approximately $15-$25.

Attire for NALA is business casual. The meeting rooms will be air conditioned so you may want to bring a blazer or sweater for the sessions.

Nursing Contact Hours

This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. NALA 2019 is approved for 7.0 contact hours. 

CAE Credits

CAE LogoAs a CAE Approved Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this program will offer CAE credits toward your CAE application or renewal professional development requirements.

Note: This program is not endorsed, accredited, or affiliated with ASAE or the CAE Program.  Applicants may use any program that meets eligibility requirements in the specific timeframe towards the exam application or renewal.  There are no specific individual courses required as part of the applications – selection of eligible education is up to the applicant based on his/her needs.
